Tempralax is simply administered orally through a syringe, or given in a handful of food, approximately 1 to 3 hours before the time it needs to take effect ­ which maybe when the horse is due to travel, arrive at a competition, complete a dressage test or showjumping round, or even expecting a visit from the farrier or dentist. Tempralax will not diminish the mental or physical capacity of the horse. It enables him to remain calm and concentrated so that he may cope with a potentially stressful situation and perform to his maximum ability. The quantity and time allowed for effect will vary from horse to horse. Small amounts (10ml) can be fed on a daily basis as a short course to help the animal cope with a potentially difficult situation, for example if staying away at a show.
