N.A.F. Blood Liquid contains necessary vitamins and minerals required for red blood cell production and performance
The water soluble vitamin B complexes are usually adequately provided in the diet. However, stress can alter both uptake and requirements. The B vitamins are important for haemoglobin formation, vital in the performance horse because of it's role in oxygen transport to the muscles. Individual B vitamins also have specific functions. Vitamin B12 contains cobalt, necessary for red blood cell production. Exertion reduces both synthesis and utilisation of vitamin B12, hence supplementation is advised for performance horses. Vitamin B6 is important for amino acid utilisation and absorption, protein and carbohydrate metabolism, and within the central nervous system. Intestinal synthesis of vitamin B6 is reduced when the system is under stress, therefore supplementation may be necessary for performance horses. Folic acid is linked to the B vitamins and is important for red blood cell production and blood count. Exercise increases the requirement for folic acid, yet the high grain diet of competition horses is a poor source of this vitamin. N.A.F. Blood Liquid contains folic acid, vitamins B12 and B6, and iron, an important constituent of haemoglobin. Iron requirements increase with exercise as approximately 24 mg can be lost per litre of sweat. Although the diet may contain iron it is only 15-18% available, therefore supplementation is beneficial. N.A.F. Blood Liquid contains vitamins and minerals required for red blood cell production and performance in an easily absorbed sorbitol base.
