All of the paintings were done in the mid nineteen eighties. And the print range was launched in 1988. The prints were sold all over the world through Horse and Hound and the polo media of the time. Over time the momentum of sales was clearly lost as it was done from the home of the agent handling the sales. I thought that all of the prints were gone until they recently were uncovered in a flat in Chelsea some 24 years later

Born in Dublin,Irelandin 1959, Eddie Kennedy grew up beside one of the oldest polo clubs in the world " The All Ireland Polo Club" which is situated in thePhoenixParkclose to his family home, His entire youth was spent working with horses which included polo, hunting, show jumping and racing. At the age of nineteen Eddie started working in the film business as a film horse stuntman and for the next three years he worked on several feature films and doubled for actors such as Michael Cain, Liam Neeson and David Soul

Eddie has always combined his polo and art careers and after the success of his first exhibition at the Godolphin Gallery inDublin, he decided to move to theUKto pursue better opportunities with his love of art and passion for polo. It was around this time that he produced a series of very successful limited edition prints which can still be seen hanging in private homes and polo offices alike throughout the world. However marriage and starting a family took over and the need to get back to horses saw him doing less and less art and focusing more on polo, which in turn led to working for various players and clubs. It was at this time he was offered the opportunity to work with the great Mexican 10 Goal player, Memo Gracida who was playing for the Maple Leaf high goal polo team, one of the finest, with some of the worlds best horses. In time Eddies horsemanship led to him taking over  the management of that team until it was disbanded some five years later.

As the Maple Leaf string was about to be sold off a new patron arrived in the UK in the form of Prince Jeffri of Brunei who bought not only the Maple Leaf complex and string of horses but he also bought the adjoining Coworth Park Polo centre and added a large number of horses bringing the total to over 200. Offered the job as polo manager giving Eddie a fantastic opportunity as he got to work with a great cross section of the worlds best polo players including all 7 of the famous Heguy brothers all of whom were rated 10 goals in handicap at the time.

Following the demise of theBruneipolo organization Eddie was presented with a fantastic opportunity to go toDubai an use his expertise to develop a brand new polo and equestrian club. This position involved everything from the sourcing and purchasing of horses for polo and show jumping, to building polo fields and synthetic riding surfaced arenas. Eddie also drew up a business plan and operations manual for the entire club which included a restaurant, spa, gym and a pool.

In the summer of 2007 Eddie returned to theUK and felt after many years the need to start creating through the medium of pencil and paper to recreate the art that comes through his love of horses and polo. Since then he has been very productive and is producing pictures on commission almost non stop. He currently resides next to the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club near Windsor where he produces his art and is now a polo coach, still combining his two passions in life, which give him a great deal of pleasure.
